In 1998 a ministry partner gave Roger a Bob Ross Master Painters Kit for Christmas. Having watched Bob Ross for years on TV, Roger often said, “I think I can do that.” It took him until the Spring of 1999 to get up the courage to put some paint on the canvas. When he did, everyone was surprised, including Roger!
Striking out to use this as an outlet from ministry and solely as a hobby, he continued to explore his ability and talent. Soon he realized that what he had was a gift from Father.
The paintings began to sell and Gerri
began taking digital pictures of the paintings using them to create note cards for use in the ministry office. Suddenly phone calls began coming in asking where we got the cards.
About the same time we were contemplating returning to secular work when someone we highly respected said, “Roger, I think you and Gerri are looking right out over the top of what the Lord has put in front of you. You need to market your paintings.” With some additional encouragement and prompting, we began to seek the Lord about the possibility of what was before us with the artwork. The rest is history.
Roger has continued to paint prompted by and under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. Each blank canvas is prayed over before any work begins and he paints while soaking music plays in the background. There have been many times when he finished a painting and left it to dry on the easel. The next morning when he returned to the painting, he would find that during the night the Holy Spirit had come and ‘tweaked’ it here and there ~ a bit of a color change here, a shaded area there ~ things that Roger knew he’d not done. We would just stand in awe at the miracle we were seeing before our eyes.
We hope you enjoy the collection of originals, reproductions and note cards and that you will visit the site often to see what’s new. We encourage you to tell others about the work, purchase them as gifts or for yourself. All proceeds from the sale of the artwork go to the general operating fund of the ministry to help us take the message of Father’s love to the next person we meet.
